With the expected closure of Neighborly, its short-lived crowdsourced Q&Awebsite, Google made yet another entryto its long list of discontinued productsThursday. Until the 12th of May theoperation will go dark.
"We launched Neighbourly as a Beta app to connect you with your neighbors and make it more friendly and helpful to share local information. You have come together as a group to celebrate local events, exchanged vital information during flooding, and answered more than a million questions. But the app did not develop as we had hoped, "reads an clarification from the company. "We believe we can help more people in these tough times by focusing on other Google apps which already serve millions of people every day."
Google says it aims to take the lessons Neighbourly has learned and use them to improve its other goods. This also steers existing users to "keep sharing your local experience" on the Google Maps Community Guides website. If you need to download your info, Google will advise you to use its Takeout tool any time prior to 12 October 2020.
