Biometric chat locking has been introduced by Whatsapp, months after iOS has had the functionality. WhatsApp published on its blog that Android users have fingerprint lock, adding another layer of app protection. The same fingerprint used for locking the screen can now be applied to all chats and notifications and can also be adjusted to the unlock time duration. Every time, 1 minute and 30 minutes are available.

Once you're updated to the whatsapp latest version, 1️⃣ go to WhatsApp’s Settings screen from the 3-dot menu on the top.
2️⃣ Head to Accounts and then to Privacy. Scroll down to the bottom, and tap on Fingerprint lock. It will give you a toggle to turn on ‘unlock with fingerprint’, after which you will get further options to customize the time duration for how long an unlock will last. There’s an additional option to hide the contents of the notifications.
It has been introduced for all Android users and is suitable both for phones that have physical and in-display fingerprint scanners. For iPhone users, only Face ID is supported, which includes the iPhone X and 11 families. 3D Face Unlock is not supported on Android, so phones without a fingerprint scanner cannot use this feature.
