The main objective of the Auto-Brightness feature is to boost the battery life of your iPhone. But you can turn it off if you have more power over how softly or dimly your screen is. You can use the lightning lever in the Control Center to power it easily with it switched off. Or, to adjust it, you can go to settings > Display & Brightness.
