Twitter is updating its Android app this week to allow up to five lists as alternate timelines in the main home section of the app. You can use these lists to easily switch between various groups of users that you’ve grouped into a Twitter list. It’s a much more efficient way to navigate lists which were previously hidden within the menu system.
This latest lists support was introduced to Twitter for iOS six months ago, and it’s taken a surprising amount of time to arrive on Android. Twitter lists are useful for accounts you do not want to follow on the service, or even as a way to curate a list of common accounts for specific topics. TweetDeck, the column-based interface for Twitter, has prioritized lists for years, and now both the mobile Twitter apps can view such lists as vertical timelines that are easy to access.
Twitter’s new Android updates follow the introduction of threaded responses on iOS, which enhances how regular tweets and answers are distinguished in the app. The revamped app now draws a straight line between a parent tweet and the replies.
Twitter is rolling out the new lists feature in Android today, so you can catch the latest update over at the Google Play Store.
